Day 1 Depart Salt Lake City 2:30 PM... We start this fantastic trip by picking up
you and your fellow Adventurers in Salt Lake City.
We'll prep you
for your adventure and then enjoy a comfortable journey to our first
national park...
Day 2 Black
Canyon of the Gunnison
We'll gaze into this incredibly rugged and narrow canyon
from the many hikes along the South Rim, or descend into
the canyon a bit on the Oaks Flat Trail. We'll
continue on to camp near our next destination.....
Day 3 Curecanti National Recreation Area
We’ll get a view from the bottom of the Black Canyon
as we hike the Pine Creek Trail and then hop on a
pontoon boat ride through the upper Black Canyon. Later,
we'll hike to the Dillon Pinnacles and soak in some hot spring fed
pools!
Day 4 Great Sand Dunes National Park
Sand dunes, mountains, and wetlands. This park has it
all! After playing about on the dunes, we'll cool off on
an alpine hike into the shaded aspen groves, or hike to
near by Zapata Falls! Perhaps we'll end the day
with a soak in some hot springs under the stars?
Day 5 Durango, Colorado
Spend the day exploring this historic bustling western
town, or we'll help arrange for a half day of white water
rafting, kayaking, mt biking, horseback riding, and more!
Day 6 Durango- Silverton Train
We'll start at 6500 feet in Durango, then hop on the train for a
stunning ride along the Animas River in Silverton, almost 3,000 feet higher!
You'll feel as though you've gone back a century in time
when you step off the train in this old victorian mining town nestled
in the San Juan Mountains.
Day 7 Mesa Verde
National Park
Journey into some of the best preserved ruins in
the world! Ranger guided tours of Cliff Palace and Balcony House
will transport us into another time with a glimpse into the culture
and traditions of the Ancestral Pueblans and the mystery of their
disappearance. A short hike will take us to Spruce Tree House
and some petroglyphs.
Day 8
We'll roll back into Salt Lake City by noon, exchange emails and
addresses, and say our goodbyes. We'll assist you with your
shuttle ride to the airport, or suggest sites to see if you are
staying in Salt Lake City for an extra day.
