The Boys from the Petersham Mt Bike
Association joined us for another exciting mountain bike
adventure on Sept. 9th, and it was almost as if no time had past
since their last charter with us. This time, they tackled Idaho!
We spent 3 days in the Payette National Forest, North of McAll,
two days in the Sawtooth National Recreation Area near Stanley,
and two days in the Sun Valley/Ketchum area. Their Fat Tires
took them on high altitude trails which included a few minor
hike-a-bikes, crystal clear creeks, open meadows, high mountain
peaks, a ride past Carol King's Ranch, some sort of large
(slightly intimidating) cat tracks, and more!
As they began to adjust to the air at higher altitude, they were
faced with another challenge, Idaho's worst wildfire season in
decades. Although (most of ) the fires were off in the
distance, the the smoke drifted and settled into the valley,
turning the sky a hazy grey, and make the air that much harder
to breath in. Luckily, the wildfires only prevented them form
doing one ride. It was great to have the
Petersham crew back! The trip was filled with great riding,
great scenery, great conversation and great laughs. Hope to see
you all next year! |
