This is a true Roadtrip Adventure! Showers will only be available every other day. While we have many miles and kilometers to cover, we will make stops along the way to take in the scenery, wildlife, a bit of local culture and food. We recommend having a good book to read, or some knitting to keep you occupied while we cover the miles and miles. But keep your eyes on the scenery too as you just never know what we will see!

Day 1 Depart Salt Lake City, UT

Depart Salt Lake City

We will depart Salt Lake City in the afternoon and make a stop in Idaho Falls for snacks and groceries. We will continue through Idaho and Montana and make a stop for the night in Northern Montana.

Day 2 Alberta, CA

Alberta, CA

Today we cross the border into Alberta, Canada. The beautiful mountains of Montana will soon give way to the open high plains of Alberta. The Canadian Rockies linger in the distance like a bit of a tease for the scenery of the days to come! We continue past Calgary, Red Deer and settle in for the night in central Alberta.

Day 3 British Columbia

Today we begin our journey along the actual Alcan aka the Alaska Canadian Highway! We’ll be sure to make a stop in Dawson Creek, British Columbia to mark our beginning of the Alcan. Now the majesty of this journey really begins! Start watching for Black Bear and Moose! Tonight, settle in to the Triple G Campground for some grub and a shower!

Day 4 Muncho Lake, Liard Hot Springs

Muncho Lake and Liard Hotsprings

Big scenery and big wildlife is the theme for today!  Our journey takes us through Muncho Lake Provincial Park as we make our way through the Canadian Rockies of British Columbia. Although we cannot guarantee it, we are likely to see moose, bear, sheep, bison, and caribou. We will take a bit of the afternoon off from the road and stop at Liard Hotsprings Provincial Park for lunch and delightful soak. Later take a wander through “Signpost City” in Watson Lake. We will make the most of the eternal daylight, cover some kilometers,  and spend the night in the Yukon wilderness.

Day 5 Yukon, CA

Yukon, CA

Our journey continues through Yukon. We will stop for lunch in historic Whitehorse where you can explore the town, stroll along the Yukon River and grab a bite to eat. The afternoon drive takes us through Kluane National Park with endless views of the St Elias and Wrangell Mountains, from the Canadian side! We skirt the edge of Kluane Lake where we’ve spotted grizzly bear and sheep in years past. Settle in at the Bear Creek Campground that evening with a chance to shower. The border is just a few kilometers away!

Day 6 Alaska!

In the morning, we cross the border into the 49th state, the Last Frontier, Alaska! We leave the Alcan Highway having covered all but the last 108 miles.  Views of the Wrangell mountains continue and giveaway to views of the  Chugach Mountains as we make our way to Anchorage for the night

Day 7 Anchorage, AK

Hop on a local bus to explore downtown Anchorage while we prep for the upcoming Alaska 8 tour. If you are continuing on with us, you have a chance to do some laundry before the next part of your journey. If not, we will assist you in getting to the airport on time as you head back to the lower 48!
