Day 1 Depart Portland, ME
Depart Portland ME, 11 AM
We’ll pick you up at 11 AM and take in a picnic lunch at the iconic Portland Head Light before whisking you away to the western mountains of Maine! Don’t worry, we’ll come back to the rugged rocky coast later in the week!
Day 2 Canoe and Hike
Canoe and Hike
Start your day with a leisurely canoe down the Androscoggin River. Maybe we will see a moose! In the afternoon ride the chairlift up Sunday River Ski Resort for beautiful views of the surrounding Mahousic Mountains. Hike to another peak or down the mountain. We’ll also visit Artist’s Bridge, a beautiful local covered bridge.
Day 3 Grafton Notch State Park

Discover the beauty of the White Mountains and Grafton Notch State Park! We’ll enjoy some hiking through thick forest as fall foliage begins. We’ll explore beautiful granite outcrops and cascading creeks while we keep an eye out for a Moose! End the day at the Suds Pub and sample some local food and brews.
Day 4 Acadia
Acadia National Park
Sand Beach, Thunder Hole, and Cadillac Mountain. These are just a few of the highlights we’ll take in at Acadia National Park! We’ll hike along the rocky coastline or for a more challenging hike try Gorham Mountain or the Bee Hive!
Day 5 Acadia
Acadia National Park
Experience Acadia by boat, bike or hiking today. Your choice! We’ll set you up with a tour or rent a bike or kayak and take off on your own. Acadia is home to dozens of miles of old Carriage roads perfect for biking. Kayaking around the Porcupine Islands offers views of Bar Harbor and Frenchmen’s Bay. Dine out tonight in one of the many fine restaurants in Bar Harbor.
Day 6 Camden and Rockland Lighthouses
Camden and Rockland
In the morning we’ll head to the mid-coast area of Maine to Camden Hills State Park. Take in the views from Mt Battie of Penobscot Harbor which include the village of Camden and on a clear day, Acadia! Visit Owl’s Head Lighthouse and walk a mile out into the ocean on the Rockland Breakwater! We’ll camp near the ocean for the next two nights.
Day 7 Monhegan Island
Monhegan Island
It’s an early start today as we try and catch sunrise over Penobscott Bay right from our campground. Next we’ll take a ferry out to the truly unique Monhegan Island. Spend your day hiking, visiting galleries, or taking in the beautiful views of this enchanting island!
Day 8 Common Ground Fair, (certain dates only)
Common Ground Fair
Spend the day celebrating Maine’s agricultural traditions at Common Ground Fair. Enjoy local food vendors, hand crafts and homesteading demonstrations and exhibits, live music and animals.
Day 8 Return to Portland, ME
Return to Portland, ME by Noon.
